Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday launched the JioPhone, which he said would be "effectively free" barring a refundable deposit.

This phone supports all of India's 22 languages, says Akash Ambani. Let us take a look at the top things announced at Jio's AGM. This phone would start rolling out for a "beta testing" from the 15th of August and pre-booking for the device would begin from the 24th of August. However, this sum is fully refundable, but you can claim the refund only after three years of purchasing the device. You can also choose ₹309 pack where you will get support to mirror your mobile screen on a TV through HDMI or VGA Cable.

The JioPhone comes bundled with a bunch of exciting apps like Jio Cinema and Jio Music which will boost the entertainment value of your smartphone.

Jio calls its new device "India's intelligent smartphone".

JioPhone has the SOS feature, and it will activate soon after pressing the "5".

Reliance Jio launched its 4G service commercially on September 5, 2016 offering free data and voice services. While the company sold the affordable 4G VoLTE smartphones through LYF branding, the JioPhone has only the Jio branding. For instance, Rs 309 recharge will offer 1GB of 4G data/day and is valid for 56 days. What they came up with, stunned me. Adding that Jio users consistently make 250 cr minutes of calls every day, Mukesh Ambani thanked PM Narendra Modi for his digital India vision.

Mukesh Ambani released the JioPhone during the Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2017.

Ambani said it is unfair that 50 crore Indians still have to pay for voice.

The device also supports an impressive voice command app for calls, messages, search and more.

There will be a fair usage policy of half a GB per day, to ensure that bandwidth is fairly apportioned for every user. "Jio will have created a larger 4G network in just 3 years".

Jio wants to cover 99% of Indians with their services. Ambani announced 10,000 more Jio offices, and the company plans to integrate with most e-commerce platforms as well. He said that the Rs 1500 is only a security deposit, only to "avoid any potential misuse of data".
