Apple has announced its new watchOS4 during the recent event where the giant has also announced a new Apple Watch Series 3 along with three new iPhones and a new Apple TV 4K.

The Watch 3 is the same size and thickness as the first two Apple Watch devices, despite the added technology. Testing conducted by Apple in August 2017 using preproduction Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) and Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), each paired with an iPhone; all devices tested with prerelease software. Whether users are turned off by the one-year ownership cost of $500 for a $400 device remains to be seen.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook said on Tuesday the Apple Watch is the No. 1 Watch globally. So, this tells us the Apple Watch can do many things without the need of iPhone. Apple's marketing for its smartwatch relies heavily on positioning it as the ultimate fitness tracker.

The Apple Watch Series 3 will be available in 9 markets in its initial phase. This makes over-the-air activation possible without compromising on the space.

The smartwatch runs on watchOS 4, which features an updated Heart Rate app, giving additional insight to heart rate, including measurements during resting, workout, recovery, walking and Breathe sessions.

The Apple Watch 3 gives users the ability to do a lot more sans a smartphone. Called the mRhythm study, the trial found that the AI-based Cardiogram Apple Watch app could detect heart arrhythmias with up to 97% accuracy. This let users connect to their favourite cardio equipment and experience two-way synchronisation of data with just a tap. The cost of the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE connectivity is $399 which is around Rs 25,500.

The Apple Watch Series 3 will be available for pre order on September 15th with delivery and in store availability on September 22nd. The only identifying feature that sets the third generation Apple watch from its predecessors is the addition of red-coloured crown. However, unlike the previous two models, this Apple Watch finally comes with LTE service. The Smart Activity coaching app also has new features built exclusively for swimmers. The new Apple smartwatch is loaded with improved capabilities including built-in cellular and altimeter. Apple claims you can stream 40 million songs to your watch using Airpods as of course, because you cannot plug anything useful like headphones to your watch.

The two technologies are created to offer a wider range of high quality colours and higher resolution images.
