Yanks, Indians set for Game 1 with aces in hole

Ahead of Game 1 of the 2017 ALDS match against the Cleveland Indians, the New York Yankees took to Twitter Thursday and seemingly predicted a victory when they used known Indians fan, LeBron James to troll the team. I get the big picture view the Indians are taking, but geez, if this were the Yankees, I'd want them to just start the best pitcher in the league in Game One and try to take an early series lead.

In 3.1 innings, Gray was charged with three runs on three hits and four walks, hitting one batter and striking out two.

"I thought Trevor from pitch one. he had his breaking ball early and he had a good one", Francona said. "You have to have the confidence in what you're doing".

If the Indians win: They'll be sitting pretty with Kluber going in Game 2. "Whenever I pitch, the process is the same".

Sonny Gray comes into the game on 10-12, compared to Bauer's 17-9, and with the Indians having home advantage tonight, Cleveland fans will be expecting nothing other than a win to get this series going tonight. Bauer faced the Yankees twice during the regular season, both times in the second half, and allowed two runs in 13 innings. While the days off in the series mean Kluber could still come back to start Game 5 on his regular four days of rest if needed, if the Indians lose the opener there will be a lot of second-guessing. "I feel like I don't have time". While Kluber has pitched like a homebody this year - he's 10-2, with a 1.81 ERA at Progressive Field - Carrasco likes the road.

"I had good stuff".

"I really respect the Yankees", says Heffernan.

Though Vegas thinks LA will be the one to battle Cleveland in the World Series, their bad September has me suspicious. Greinke cruised through three innings but fell apart in the fourth, allowing four runs before getting yanked.

The Yankees managed only three hits to Cleveland's five on the night.

Kluber, an 18-game victor during the regular season, will start Game 2 on Friday against CC Sabathia. From that moment on, I knew the Yankees were in good shape for the game. Gray holds a 3.11 ERA in 72 1/3 road innings this year.

The Twins' second baseman, Brian Dozier, put the first run on the board with a solo home run off of Luis Severino. The Indians loaded the bases with one out after Bruce's homer but failed to score again. Bruce, who could have been a Yankee at the trade deadline, added a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

"It was never brought to my attention", Bruce said.

Still, Munthe has to respects tonight's opponents the New York Yankees. "He's a veteran guy". But I think we have to stay consistent with our approach, the way we approached everything all season long. "I think that speaks to the depth and the quality of our lineup, of our team". We saw that lineup that just always finds a way to wear down the pitcher standing 60 feet away. You have to give the Major League Baseball team some credit, they nailed it. They are really well balanced. That's when James revealed his allegiance with the Yankees, despite his Indians support.

Heartbroken after coming up a little short past year against the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland figured to make it to October for another swing at ending a World Series drought stretching back to 1948.
