The flu has been widespread in Colorado this season.

The agency monitors flu activity through reports of flu tests and counts of patients with flu-like symptoms from hospitals, school districts and selected clinics throughout the county.

Those objects can include doorknobs and handles, stair rails, buttons, gas pumps and gym equipment.

Even the MTA is using its message boards to remind New Yorkers to sneeze into their sleeves if they don't have a tissue handy.

"Linens, eating utensils, and dishes belonging to those who are sick should not be shared without washing thoroughly first".

Remember, influenza germs can live on a surface for eight hours.
